Stone Jar Nut Cookies

Ingredients
- 1 c. shortening
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1 tsp. nutmeg or pumpkin pie spice
- 2 c. brown sugar
- 2 eggs, well beaten
- 3 c. all-purpose flour, sifted
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1/4 c. milk
- 1 c. nuts, chopped
Preparation
- Combine shortening, salt, vanilla, and nutmeg or pumpkin pie spice.
- Add brown sugar gradually and cream well. Add beaten eggs and mix well. Sift flour with baking soda.
- Add 1/2 of flour to creamed mixture, then add milk, then remaining flour and nuts, mixing well.
- Drop from teaspoon on greased baking sheets.
- Bake at 375 degrees 8 to 10 minutes. Keep in airtight container.
